Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From parrots and reptiles to cats and, of course, dogs, I’ve always felt called to care for and understand animals. In 1981, I entered the world of dog breeding and quickly realized it wasn’t just a profession — it was an opportunity to enrich families’ lives while raising the standard for ethical, responsible breeding.

At Santana’s Yorkies, I specialize in Yorkshire Terriers with exceptional genetics, strong health foundations, and loving temperaments. Every puppy is raised in a hands-on, nurturing environment where they receive daily love, socialization, and individualized attention before joining their forever families.

Health and transparency are non-negotiable here. Each Yorkie receives comprehensive genetic testing, age-appropriate immunizations, veterinary evaluations, and detailed documentation. New owners go home with a care handbook, starter kit, health records, and ongoing support — because bringing home a puppy should feel exciting and supported, not overwhelming.

Santana’s Yorkies is firmly opposed to tail docking.

Tail docking is the practice of surgically removing a portion of a puppy’s tail, typically for cosmetic breed standards. Historically, it was done for working dogs, but today it is largely aesthetic. We do not participate in this procedure because it is unnecessary, can cause pain and complications, and removes an important part of a dog’s natural anatomy. A dog’s tail plays a critical role in balance and communication. We believe in preserving the integrity and wellbeing of every puppy we raise.

Our priority is health, structure, temperament, and humane care — not outdated cosmetic standards.
